I am also one who was so angry about the war in Iraq that I was against the Surge; however, I agree that the Surge worked. I think it helped us get out of Iraq sooner than we could have without the Surge. I am hoping the Afghanistan Surge will have the same impact. I believe we let Iraq and Afghanistan (the past 8 years) depend on us too much. A published date when we start to leave is a good idea to "force" these countries to decide what they are going to do when we are gone.
